Our Philosophy
At Puremess, we believe that beautiful skin is achieved through a simple daily skin care routine using nature’s finest ingredients. Daily self-care and love means your beauty shines from the inside out.
How it started
The passion for creating natural, effective, sustainable skincare came after my second breast cancer diagnosis. I’ve always been a pretty healthy person, eating well and exercising. I also thought I was good at taking care of my skin, but when I started doing some research about some of the ingredients in the products I had been using it quickly became a little scary. Your skin is your biggest organ after all but I think it’s easy to forget that what we put on our skin is absorbed and can have a negative, as well as a positive impact. So I decided to formulate my own! My science background has been enormously helpful and I’ve loved researching the benefits of different oils, butters, waxes and essential oils to develop the best skin and hair care products I can. I’ve developed them to provide maximum nourishment as well as helping to protect the skin.
I grew up in the USA and was lucky enough to have lived in several different States, so I really feel that I’ve been influenced by the different environments, plants, smells and colours which I feel are reflected in Puremess. My step mum spent a lot of time in Hawaii and our house was full of beautiful plants and colours that she loved and that reminded her of her time there. Colour, in particular, has always been really important to me, but became even more important during my cancer. I asked my closest friends and family to wear colour so that I would feel uplifted, inspired and hopeful and I really wanted this to shine through in our branding. The colours I have chosen all mean a great deal to me and have come from childhood memories of happy holidays, favourite flowers and a need to surround myself with calm. I really hope you love them as much as I do.
Scents are so meaningful for us for many different reasons, so I have carefully chosen essential oils that not only have amazing therapeutic benefits but I’m hoping will evoke some happy memories for everyone. There’s nothing better than watching someone’s face light up when they pick up a product and say, mmmm that smell reminds me of our time in …….
I am often asked about where the name Puremess came from! Well, we use natural ingredients, so Pure was easy, but we also don’t want people to mess with their skin or the environment, so Puremess was born. I’ve also injected a bit of Scandinavian culture in the names of our products as the whole idea of Hygge fascinated me when I was going through treatment. Surrounding myself, and my family with things that bring cosiness, comfort and joy is an important part of my life now and I want to share that philosophy through Puremess.

We are passionate about creating natural products that optimise skin health, providing maximum nourishment, which is why we only use ingredients like oils, butters, waxes and botanicals. We source from local trusted suppliers and avoid chemical nasties like SLS, SLES, petrochemicals, parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, palm oil, synthetic or artificial fragrances.
Our Footprint
We want to leave a healthier planet behind so it is really important to us to only use refillable, reusable, recyclable or biodegradable packaging and strive to keep up to date with the least damaging methods of manufacture. We are also cruelty-free but don’t mind testing on people!!
We endeavour to reduce our carbon footprint through our delivery choices.
All the products are assessed by an external chemist and registered on the Cosmetic Product Notification Portal, a European legal requirement.
